More than 1,000 cancer advocates, survivors, volunteers, and donors hit the streets and the Carolina Panthers practice field, for the 7th Annual Keep Pounding 5K, presented by Rodgers. The event raised north of $100,000 to benefit adult and pediatric cancer research and support programs at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital.

Sir Purr, TopCats, and friends and family cheered on participants at the start line and as they ran though the cathead and cross the finish line. Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano and former player Mike Rucker assisted with the awards ceremony.

Each year, Carolinas HealthCare System facilities diagnose 15,000 new cancer cases and complete more than 200,000 cancer related outpatient visits.

The Panthers have a history of supporting Carolinas HealthCare System’s cancer programs through Keep Pounding – a campaign established in 2004 to honor former players Sam Mills and Mark Fields, who had both been recently diagnosed with cancer.
