On May 5, Carolinas HealthCare Foundation and legendary British golfer Peter Oosterhuis hosted the Peter Oosterhuis Championship at Quail Hollow Club. Attended by close to one hundred supporters, including award-winning CBS sports announcer Jim Nantz, the event raised awareness and gross proceeds of more than $340,000 for the Carolinas Alzheimer’s Disease Fund. This funding will vitally support local Alzheimer’s disease research at Carolinas HealthCare System, where Peter currently receives treatment. Leading sponsors of the Peter Oosterhuis Championship included Domtar and UTC Aerospace.

A highly celebrated professional golfer and broadcaster whose illustrious career included 20 worldwide wins, Peter has become known to golf enthusiasts around the world as an acclaimed broadcaster with Golf Channel and CBS. In 2014, he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease. The diagnosis brought an untimely end to his broadcasting career, but since, Oosterhuis has dedicated his time to promoting awareness and raising funds for Alzheimer’s research and patient support services.

Joining Oosterhuis at the event were longtime friend, renowned sports personality and Alzheimer’s activist, Jim Nantz; CBS golf broadcaster Peter Kostis; former CBS broadcaster and golf instructor Bobby Clampett.
